Happy 100th Birthday Park & Dare (well, almost – it’s in 2013!)

The majestic Park & Dare theatre has been alive with culture, arts and events for almost 100 years.  In 2013 we want to celebrate all the amazing local and international, amateur and professional, large and small cultural performances that have brought the building and the community together as one.

Such was the passion for the arts within the community; the theatre was built with the blood and sweat of local miners who donated a penny in the pound of their wage packet to fund its construction.

But to celebrate the birthday of a building built by the community, for the community, we need the help of the community and all who have or have had a relationship with this beautiful and unique place…

Maybe you just want to tell us why the Park & Dare has a special place in your heart…

Whatever you can tell us, we’d be fascinated to hear it – we want to build up a collection of stories and comments, photos and film to celebrate the past 100 glorious years and to pass on to the next 100 years…
